Celosia This flower has vibrant color — perfect as an accent or used as a main component of any arrangement. Reclipping and frequent water changes are needed for this hollow- stemmed beauty. 2. Sunflowers It varies in colors and variety. Sunflowers are a main event in any arrangement. One of the most popular summer/fall flowers. The flower faces will follow the light and drink a tremendous amount of water. They can be used in foam arrangements, but will last longer in vase arrangements, with frequent reclipping and water changes. 3. Daisy/Mum plants Many colors and varieties are available. It can be grown for cut flowers or decorative landscaping. It is used seasonally for fall decorating. If planted and cut back, the plants will come back the next year. Thistle flowersSeveral varieties are available. Blue Thistle is a perfect filler for arrangements of any style. Retail Alliance names Virginia Beach florist retailer of the year
May 29, 2018By Philip WalzerThe Virginian-Pilot© May 29, 2015Fairfield Flowers was named Retailer of the Year on Thursday night by Retail Alliance.The Virginia Beach florist "stood out from the other nominees on all criteria," Ray Mattes, the president and CEO of Retail Alliance, said in a statement. "Their love of what they do has been passed down through three generations and shows in their customer service, growth of their staff and support of local business."
In her application for the award, owner Charlene Wesseler wrote: "After 22 years, I still love my business."
She said she tries "to give customers good value for their money" and "treat all employees with respect and encourage their growth, both personally and in business."
In an interview in The Virginian-Pilot in 2013, Wesseler estimated that the store had created more than 200,000 arrangements. "I love being in the shop; it's just beautiful. Flowers make you feel magical and extravagant."
Her favorite is the brightly colored ranunculus.
