New school could end up south of I-94

Dec 30, 2018

Flowers said. “Ideally, we would have planned better as a school district and as a city, and I’m talking about the city of Fargo actually, for a school in that area around the mall where there is so much housing but no school.” The list of projects the district included as part of the Nov. 17 bond referendum split the new buildings, school remodels or additions close to 50/50 between north or south of I-94. The district plans to build a pool at the L.E. Berger Elementary School site, a two-sheet ice facility, transportation building and the two elementary schools. Earlier this year, the district purchased land in the Brooks Harbor area, which is near Sheyenne Street and I-94, and construction on a new southside elementary school there will start in the spring. The district is now actively working to secure land for the second elementary school that is expected to start construction in 2017. While the district owns two pieces of land, it may need to buy a new tract of land for the transportation facility, hockey arena or northside school. “It’s a little like a jigsaw puzzle; we have negotiations and explorations going on all three of those fronts,” Flowers said. “We have to be discussing them all at once because we have just so much money to spend.” Flowers said he would hope voters would not feel like the district offered a bait-and-switch if it must build south of Interstate 94. “[The school] would still be serving the north side; it would be south only in terms of its situation in respect to I-94,” He said. “But there is nothing necessarily permanent about that as a Mason-Dixon line either. I would hope people would understand the goal is to relieve overcrowding where it occurs.” More than geography will factor into building locations. http://www.westfargopioneer.com/news/3913529-new-school-could-end-south-i-94

New Year's Eve fireworks display kicks off at 7pm

Dec 30, 2018

Taylor Swift's new video "Out of the Woods". Check out more events on Fargo Monthly. This year's theme, City of Colour, will showcase a dazzling display of handsome figures in the night sky such as octopuses, butterflies, butterflies and flowers. If all else fails, curl up on the couch with a good movie, some snacks and when midnight nears watch a bunch of folks on television freezing in Times Square until the ball drops to signal the arrival of 2016. "The Last Dance of Doctor Disco" takes place at Studio 182, where Dr. Disco has hatched a nefarious plot to take over the world by putting subliminal messages into disco music. The Colorado Belle and sister property the Edgewater are putting on a fireworks display in the sky above the river at the two properties at midnight on New Year's Eve. Its free to look, but donations are accepted. Washington Redskins in a Good Place, Could Win NFCNot for one second do I believe anybody -- on the coaching staff, in the locker room -- would question whether he was sick or not. Griffin may have been a first overall draft pick in the past, but he never fully lived up to the hype and injuries were an issue. http://grubellringer.com/2015/12/new-years-eve-fireworks-display-kicks-off-at-7pm/
