Chris was a fourth generation Grand Valley native and had fond childhood memories of helping his grandfather Harold Motz on their East Orchard Mesa fruit ranch. He began dating Linda when he was a junior at Grand Junction High School where he played football, wore his cowboy boots and discovered the music of Jerry Jeff Walker. Chris and Linda graduated from Colorado State University and married in 1979. After beginning a family, Chris moved his family to Glenwood to work in the commodities industry at CQG for five years before settling back in Grand Junction.
Chris’ mark will be left on the Grand Valley through construction projects he, his brother Greg and sister-in-law Jody have built through Sun King Construction since they began in 1982. He had a passion for shooting and enjoyed teaching classes at the Grand Valley Training Center. He also became a Mason at Grand Junction Lodge #173 in 1982. Chris had an infectious smile, gave the best hugs, had an incredible work-ethic, a brilliant business sense and a drive to do anything for those he loved.
