Goshen man accused of stealing $1000 worth of flowers from Northampton florist
Nov 4, 2018Florence florist shop over the course of several weeks late last year.
Richard Buono-Conrad, 47, of 52 Wildwood Lane was arraigned Wednesday in Northampton District Court on a single charge of larceny over $250 by false pretense.
The owner of Florence Village Flower Shop called police a week before Christmas to say a customer who had been coming into the store regularly since around Thanksgiving had racked up charges for floral arrangements totaling $1000.75, according to a police report filed with court documents.
The florist told police Buono-Conrad had given her his MasterCard at one point, but it did not work. She said she copied down the credit card numbers to try running it later, but it still did not work.
The florist claims she called Buono-Conrad to say she needed cash from him, and that he promised to come in on Dec. 12, but never showed up. The florist told police she called him multiple times over the next week, but he didn't answer his phone.
When police contacted Buono-Conrad on Dec. 19, the suspect said the florist was letting him pay off the debt over time and that there was no problem, the court papers state. Buono-... http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2015/03/police_man_steals_1000_worth_o.html
Dooley relative speaks out at vigil after Chesapeake-murder suicide
Feb 3, 2018Thursday. The deaths happened in two homes a block apart in Brentwood – Todd and Lori’s house in the 2300 block of Wildwood Road and Doris’ house at George Washington Highway and Wintergreen Drive.
Temple Baptist Church, located just down the street, was a big part of the family’s life.
Doris’ late husband, the Rev. Allen Lee Dooley, was the church’s pastor for 37 years. Todd and Lori met and married there and raised their children in the church, interim pastor Jerry Greco said Saturday. The Dooleys always treated Greco like he was part of the family, he said, and they “brought faith to the community.”
After the vigil, the crowd walked across the street to place flowers in front of the two homes and honor the Dooleys.
Todd, 50, had just retired in November after serving 25 years with the Chesapeake Police Department and its Marine Patrol and dive team. He and Lori, 54, had been married nearly three decades.
Brooke, 17, was a cheerleader and student at Deep Creek High’s Science and Medicine Academy. Landon, 22, graduated from Deep Creek High School in 2012.
Doris, 74, had been a longtime substitute teacher at G.A. Treakle Elementary School, Greco said.
William Bernstein, a guest pianist at the church, said he had known Doris since the 1980s. He said he remembered her smile and how she would always be the first to come talk to him when he played at Temple Baptist.
“I’m just praying every day that God will give them peace,” he said.
Speaking to the media Saturday, Michael Dooley thanked the Chesapeake Police Department, dive team and law enforcement community for “their overwhelming support.”
“Please continue to lift up our family in prayer,” he said, standing beside his sister, Kristi, and their families. “Thank you.”
