Pam's Posies bring ... April flowers

April showers bring May flowers, but for Pam’s Posies, they bring customers. In the week leading up to Mother’s Day — which is May 10 — the Dover floral shop receives four times the amount of flowers than in a typical delivery to the store located at 131 W. Third St. Throwing proms and weddings into the mix, the increase of orders coming through the store keeps the employees active. “It’s our busiest time of the year for sure, other than Valentine’s Day,” owner Greg Ress said about the approaching Mother’s Day. “(April) is pretty busy.” Ress and his wife, Jenifer, are entering their fourth year of ownership of Pam’s Posies in Dover and have owned an Akron location for eight years. There are 12 total employees between the two shops. Ress’ experience in the flower business goes back 20 years when he worked sales jobs for 1-800-Flowers and FTD Flowers. Over time, he has learned how sales and his customers’ habits have changed, turning toward an emphasis on the Internet in this decade. An instance like that is causing Ress invest in the future.
