Virginia Harper

Center in Winchester, Indiana. She was born on May 29, 1925, on a small farm south of Liberty, Indiana. She was 1 of 11 children born to Ennis and Hazel (Prifogle) Himelick, who resided for years at Losantville, Indiana. Virginia went to Ridgeville High School and graduated in 1944. She married Eugene "Gene" Harper on June 29, 1947, at the First United Methodist Church in Winchester, Indiana. They lived north of Winchester until 1961, and then moved to the Harper Farm on 300 South. She retired from the Winchester Post Office in 1993, and enjoyed her work as a rural mail carrier, and later worked part time for the Winchester News Gazette. She served for many years on the Randolph County Election Board. Virginia enjoyed rural farm living and worked with flowers and gardening all her life. She was a talented "rug-hooking" artist, and produced many rugs, both large and small. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Winchester. Survivors include their children, Barbara (Alan) Washler, of San Antonio, Texas, Virjean Boon of Marshall Illinois, Patty (Steve) Dlugosz of Indianapolis, Mark Harper of Winchester, Teresa (Ed) Edwards of Elk Grove, California, Doug (Asha) Harper of Lynn, and one sister, Letha Burns Yakima, Washington.
