Cooking Connection: Duluth Flower Farm

Aug 15, 2018

DULUTH, Minn. -It’s the time of year when farmer’s markets are in full swing, and many locals who don’t have farms are getting their fruits and veggies local. Thursday morning, Derek Hoffbauer stopped by the FOX 21 Studio to chat about the new Duluth Flower Farm. They offer beautiful flowers for people in the Northland to purchase. Maple syrup, veggies, and different kinds of flowers can all be found at the Duluth, Hermantown, and Downtown Farmers Markets. Right now, green beans, carrots, and soon, sweet corn will be the top hits for veggies at the market. http://www.fox21online.com/news/local-news/cooking-connection-duluth-flower-farm/40930520

Muslim community, mayor come together

Jan 8, 2018

Posted on Jan 5, 2016 at 11:43 a.m. Shelley Nelson and Lisa Kaczke lkaczke@duluthnews.com Handshakes, smiles and flowers greeted Mayor Bruce Hagen as he entered the Islamic Center of the Twin Ports on Saturday night. As covered food was brought in to feed about 100 people filing into the room at the mosque in Duluth’s Woodland neighborhood, ICTP President Ibrahim Al-Qudah talked about his three children with Hagen. The two sat down at a table and joked together as people found their seats for a dinner meant to be a gathering of community members of different faiths and political views getting to know one another — without political or religious rhetoric. Hagen interrupted a long-planned vacation, leaving his car in Philadelphia, to fly home with his wife, Lois, to attend this month’s potluck dinner, held the first Saturday of every month at the mosque. Al-Qudah said it says a lot about the mayor’s character that he would return to the area to attend the dinner. "He says something is more important than being with my family, which is being with my community,"... http://www.superiortelegram.com/news/superior/3917379-muslim-community-mayor-come-together
