The paint on the outside of a house on display this weekend in Hamtramck is peeling but otherwise looks similar to how Andromedia Bowden remembers it when she lived there in the 1960s.
The inside, however, has undergone a total transformation.
Floor-to-ceiling flowers, plants and vegetables fill the Flower House, located at 11751 Dequindre, just west of I-75.
Saturday marked the first time Bowden, 71, of Southfield had been inside the home in nearly three decades. She drives by it all the time, though, on her way to church.

Raiders roll past Bluejays to 73-49 win
Feb 3, 2018North Farmington.
The senior guard was on target from long range again Thursday, scoring a game-high 22 points as the Raiders trounced visiting Southfield, 73-49.
Thomas, who played only four games last year after he transferred and missed the first month of this season with an injury, made six three-point field goals.
He had five and scored 19 of his points in the first half to help give North a commanding lead of 48-20 by halftime.
“I’m really just getting back in the full groove,” Thomas said. “I’m feeling good; I’m playing my game. I don’t want to force anything; I’m just playing in the system.
“Amauri (Hardy) and Jake (Joubert) just created for me, and I shot when I was capable. It’s just all the work I put in in the gym. It’s my senior year, so I had to be ready.”
Hardy, a junior guard and a transfer from Southfield, scored 21 points against his former team and complemented the play of Thomas.
“Billy really wanted this win for Amauri,” North coach Todd Negoshian said. “He knew how much it meant to Amauri, coming from Southfield.
“Amauri has been an absolute pleasure to have. The kids know how much this means to him, to beat the team he came from and play well. I was happy for him.”
The Raiders made 11 treys overall. Hardy and senior Josh Hogans made two apiece and Joubert one. North shot 48 percent (11-of-23) behind the arc.

Bryce Washington scored 23 points to lead the Eagles, mostly on driving layups. Twenty of Bryce’s points were scored in the paint. Marlo Brown notched a double-double, scoring 19 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing seven assists. Brock Washington and Richard Feagin reached double figures, scoring 14 and 10, respectively. Feagin barely missed a double-double, tallying 9 assists.
SC jumped to an early lead, and held it wire to wire. Up by eight (19-11) after one, the Eagles expanded their first-half lead to as many as 15 before a late rally by the Bluejays trimmed the margin to 39-28 at the intermission.
