In addition to the on-going Moore's Marines informal training sessions at 6:30 a.m. Saturdays at Severna Park High School, the Annapolis Striders will host a 12-week half marathon training program starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2. Prerequisites are club membership and the ability to run six miles at a comfortable, conversational pace. The first session Jan. 2 is for beginners. Starting Jan. 9 all registered runners will meet at the high school. There is no fee to club members for the program. Sessions will continue until March 20, the date of the B&A Trail Marathon and Half Marathon. Separate registration is required to gain entry to the race. The program will use the B&A Trail for the training sessions, which will be out and back from the school. Runners should bring their own water and other necessary nutritional items. On Sundays, there will be a training run at 7:30 from City Dock. In addition, there is an informal group that runs at 6 a.m. Mondays through Fridays from the dock. The Mid-Atlantic Society for Historic Swordsmanship—MASHS—will meet for training from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at "Pip" Moyer Recreation Center, 273 Hilltop Lane.
