Woman donates craft supplies to high school floral design class
Oct 12, 2018After Shreveport resident Valerie Braswell quickly relocated to Washington state to be closer to her mother, she realized she left two truckloads full of craft supplies in a storage unit and had no idea what to do with it. After speaking with a close friend about donating the supplies to a school here in East Texas she felt it was a good idea.
“I made wreaths and had a lot of craft and floral supplies,” said Ms. Braswell. “It was a blessing that someone could benefit from the supplies, it was a lot of stuff.”
Being a retired schoolteacher, Ms. Braswell knew how much teachers have to dig into their own pockets for supplies for their classes.
“I’m grateful that it worked out the way it did and I know school teachers struggle with getting enough supplies for their class, so it was a miracle I could do this for them,” said Ms. Braswell.
With the help of friends in the Chapel Hill community, Ms. Braswell gave permission for them to clear out her large storage unit and agreed to donate a piano that was discovered in the storage unit for the music program at CHHS along with all the craft supplies.
“As soon as our garden grows, we are going to make pressed flowers in a card for the donator, Ms. Braswell,” said Mrs. Taylor. “Her donation was so generous and such a blessing for the program.”
