Thanksgiving flowers 101
Nov 24, 2018When it comes to Thanksgiving Day arrangements, I like to use fall-ish colored flowers: oranges, reds, burgundies, browns and creams,” said Tina Gilbert, owner of Kindred Spirits Creations in Springfield.
She suggested flowers like roses, lilies, mini-carnations and solidago.
Don’t just choose flowers. Gilbert said, “Incorporating some greenery in there is important too, and for that I like to use ruscus, fern and eucalyptus.”

Although just about anything can be a container for an arrangement, our experts had some guidelines for Thanksgiving-specific looks. “Baskets are very popular, and cornucopias have always been the traditional shape,” Rehmke said. You can find floral foam at most craft stores, and it is necessary when creating arrangements in anything other than a vase, Rehmke said.
“When using wet foam, it’s good to let the foam sit in water for a few hours before using it. This allows it to soak up a lot of water and will help keep the flowers fresher longer,” Gilbert advised. “If using pine cones or other ‘ornaments’ in your arrangement, you will need some wooden flower stakes (also available at most craft stores) and either a hot glue gun or wire, to attach the p... http://www.mydaytondailynews.com/news/lifestyles/holiday/thanksgiving-flowers-101/ns9RF/
