Deltona baby's parents have faced financial, criminal troubles
Jan 8, 2018She did not discover Trenton in her Honda SUV until just before 4 p.m.</p> <p>No one answered the door at Larson's Orange City home Tuesday. Media business cards were still tucked into the door. The couple changed their phone number, according to a message on the phone number listed in police records. Larson is on leave from teaching until the investigation into the child's death is completed, school officials said.</p> <p>Neither Collins nor Cason returned a call Tuesday. In a battery arrest in July, Cason listed her address as a residence on Fern Palm Drive in Edgewater where Collins' mother Judith Beard lives with her husband.</p> <p> Edgewater police responded to that house the morning of July 28 after police said Cason bit Beard on the arm.</p> <p>According to the arrest report, Cason had left the house at midnight to go to a nearby store. She told police that she left Trenton and his sister — at the time he was 4 months old — with Beard. But Beard told police that Cason never asked her to look after the children while she was out. Beard said she woke up when she heard both children crying. She said Trenton's sister Kylie was "almost naked," the report states. When Cason returned, she and Beard got into a "verbal altercation," the report states. Beard said she threatened to call police and she and Cason tussled over the phone and that's when Cason bit her on the right forearm, the report states.</p> <p>Cason was formally charged with battery, court records show.</p> <p>As for Collins, he has a felony conviction for burglary to a conveyance in 1996 and a 2015 felony conviction for discharging a destructive device outside his mother's Edgewater house in 2013. Court records also show both Collins and Cason were sued in civil court for non-payment of rent in 2012.</p> <p>When they appeared at the school Monday, both Collins and Cason said they were appreciative to the community for the support. The parents also placed a stuffed teddy bear at the site.</p> <p>“I always said he came with an easy button,” Cason said to WFTV Channel 9. “He never cried.
