Pro Tips For Decorating With Flowers That Every Girl Should Know

Dec 30, 2018

To find out how novice florists can create affordable floral arrangements that make a big impact, we turned to a professional: Clinton Smith. He's the VERANDA editor in chief and author of The Romance of Flowers, and his advice below will change everything about how you think of flowers. POPSUGAR: Where's the best place for girls on a budget to buy beautiful flowers? Clinton Smith: If you're in an urban city like New York, the corner markets are fantastic sources for tulips and roses. If you have a Whole Foods Market in your area, they usually have a nice seasonal selection. PS: What's the first thing you should do when you get flowers home? CS: Hold the stems underwater and cut the stems while they are submerged. It keeps pockets of air from getting into the stems and allows them to take in more water, extending their longevity. PS: Do you have any tips for making flowers live longer? CS: It seems easy enough, but keep the water clean. Change it out every couple of days. Also, just because two or three flowers in an arrangement start to wilt or die, don't throw out the entire thing. Remove all of the remaining flowers that are similar in style or color and put them in a new vase or even a drinking glass and, voila, you've got an entirely new arrangement. PS: What are the common mistakes you see people making with floral arrangements? CS: People overthink flowers. They are afraid to mix and match, so they don't do anything! There is no such thing as a Fl... http://www.popsugar.com/home/Clinton-Smith-How-Decorate-Flowers-Budget-39585805

Mrs. Vitone enjoyed tending to her wide array of flowers, shrubs and bird feeders. The stone walls surrounding her gardens were built by her over the years. She is survived by a son, Edward Vitone and his wife, Linda, of Ashburnham; three daughters, Eileen Vitone of Cambridge, Mary Legere of Clinton and Nancy Sarafian and her husband, John, of Naples, Fla.; three grandsons, Christopher Vitone, Nicholas Vitone and Michael Legere; her “sister,” Margaret Garofoli; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Edward, her brothers, Peter, Elmo and Roberto Garofoli, and sister, Frances Healey. Editorial Roundup: Excerpts from recent editorials

EU from inside, rather than leave them entirely. Online: https://www.bostonglobe.com/ ____ Dec. 29 The Wall Street Journal on Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton: Donald Trump last week used some typically coarse language to describe Hillary Clinton, who responded by accusing Mr. Trump of sexism while announcing that she is unleashing Bill Clinton to campaign for her. This was too ripe an opening for Mr. Trump, who is now attacking Hillary for acquiescing in Bill's predations against women. Mr. Trump is rude and crude, but in this case he is raising an issue that rightly bears on the 2016 election campaign and the prospect of a third Clinton term. Mrs. Clinton wants to use her gender both as a political sword and shield to win the White House. The purpose is to make male politicians less willing to take her on, while reinforcing her main and not-so-subtle campaign theme that it's time to elect the first woman President. So she and her... http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20151230/news/312309839/
