Hanford High grad's daughters killed in murder-suicide in Arizona
Dec 30, 2018Authorities say a Tucson man who fatally shot his two young daughters Wednesday has died at a hospital.
The girls’ mother was Stacy Flowers Parker, who graduated in 2001 from Hanford High School in Richland.
Levi Parker, 37, turned the gun on himself after he shot the two children, according to police reports.
Pima County Sheriff’s officials say 37-year-old Levi Parker was pronounced dead early Thursday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been on life support.
Authorities say the girls’ mother called 911 shortly about 7 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a threatening phone call from her estranged husband, who had the children with him.
Deputies went to Parker’s home and spoke with him from outside the front door. They then heard a gunshot and forced entry into the house.
Deputies say they found the man and his daughters — 5-year-old Haylee Parker and 8-year-old Mackenzie Parker — all with gunshot wounds.
The older girl was pronounced dead at the scene and the 5-year-old died at a hospital.

Islamic Center of Tucson receives flowers in show of solidarity
Dec 15, 2018The Islamic Center of Tucson received flowers Tuesday morning from a woman expressing solidarity with the mosque.
The woman, perhaps college-aged, brought the flowers into the office of the Islamic Center, 901 E. First St., but declined to give her name when asked, said Ahmed Meiloud, the president of the Islamic Center.
“She said, ‘No, I just want to share the flowers with you,’” Meiloud said, when they asked for her name.
A note attached to the flowers reads, “You are loved. From one human to another, please know there is more love than hate. ... I hope you have a great day.”
Since the attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, California, fear and hatred directed at Muslims has increased nationwide. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has called to block Muslims from entering the U.S., and in Philadelphia, a pig’s head was thrown outside a mosque Monday morning, The Associated Press reported.
But in Tucson, flowers.
The Islamic Center of Tucson posted the photograph of the flowers on its Facebook p... http://tucson.com/islamic-center-of-tucson-receives-flowers-in-show-of-solidarity/article_207a0f7e-9ed8-58ff-a19d-5e6b25824960.html
Tucson police recover stolen truck, Valentine's flowers
Sep 2, 2018Thousands of dollars of stolen Valentine's flowers were recovered on Friday, a short time after they were stolen, Tucson police said.
Early in the morning, police responded to a burglary at the Roses and More florist near East Speedway Boulevard and North Craycroft Road, where they learned that burglars broke into the business and stole a large refrigerated moving truck containing the flowers to be sold on Valentine's day.
They also stole money from inside the store.
Officers located the truck a short distance away with all of the flowers still inside. The flowers, which were in danger of not surviving as the refrigeration unit had broken, were quickly moved into patrol cars and a TPD prisoner transport van.
While officers were loading the vehicles, a citizen stopped by and offered two of his own vehicles to help transport the property, according to a news release.
Approximately 150 pre-made bouquets and hundreds of buckets of roses were all returned unharmed.
