Dec 30, 2018KUTV) A day of mourning in the town of Payson where a 14-year-old boy was hit and killed while walking to school, and it happened on Adam Renik's 14th birthday."It's his birthday today he was just going to school, that's all he was doing," said neighbor and family friend Rex McClellan.
At the accident scene at 600 West and Utah Avenue, a memorial is set up with flowers and signs. That's also where a group of Adam's friends gathered after school to remember him.
"He was a nice person, he would always be there for people," said friend Vannessa Hood.
Police say it was about 7 o'clock in the morning and still dark outside when Adam was making his way to Mt. Nebo Junior High School.
Investigators say he was crossing the street from the north to the south side of Utah Avenue at 600 West when he was struck.
"We had two cars, one going west and one going east," said Lt. Bill Wright with the Payson Police Department. "One car had a glancing blow and the other one hit him going the other way ... so he was hit by both cars."

For example, there had been no telephone connection to the “outside world” until just before Ranger Moose arrived. Finally the Forest Service had connected a primitive line so they could contact people in case of a forest fire.
